Nikon D5100 Crashing?

Nikon D5100 Firmware
I got a brand new D5100 these days and it will randomly “crash” What I mean is I will be taking photographs, looking down the viewfinder, snapping away and then I will press the shutter and practically nothing takes place. When I look at the display it is black and not responsive. The only way to get it back is to pull the battery and place it back in. It also will do it whilst scrolling by means of the playback or in the menu. I have a feeling, its some thing with the firmware trigger I’m nevertheless operating the stock 1.. It’s really frustrating having to do this so if anyone understands anything it would br appreciated. Thanks!

Stephen Cheatley: You could consider resetting the camera to default.

If no luck it could be faulty.

Jim A: Get in touch with Nikon

keerok: It is not the firmware. Return the camera for a replacement. Do not neglect to bring everything that came in the box and the official revenue receipt.

AWBoater: The current firmware for the D5100 is ver one.01, so you are on old firmware. You may want to download the present version and attempt it just before carrying out anything else.

But your symptom is not listed in the bug fixes for the firmware so you may have a bona-fide issue. The closest problem is that the camera could not identify some memory cards. If your camera is acquiring that concern, it is conceivable that it could be behaving as you state – if the problem is intermittent.

That would be the only other believed, to consider a different brand memory card – particularly if you are using a brand or kind not listed as tested – as all of the actions you state seem to be when you are accessing the memory card.

The firmware update may well repair the problem, if that is what is occurring.

If you can return it, that could be the greatest answer. Or try out 1.01 first, then return it if it is still kaput.

I really like this camera: it is easy to use, the exposure in large or low light circumstances is exceptional, the colors are vibrant, and battery life is very excellent. I have no regrets about selecting the Nikon D3100 and am searching forward to a long, exciting, and fulfilling relationship.
I was browsing for a camera for a long time before eventually determining to buy a Nikon D3100. I am a school freshman and just about to commence a photography program in August. From what I had heard, this camera was a wonderful choice for somebody just wanting to get their start off in photography.
If I can clarify any of this, please e mail me!

I am seeking forward to gaining far more knowledge with this camera and perhaps expanding the versatility by adding a flash and other lenses.
